Dr. Hansen received his undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1985. In 1987, Dr. Hansen began studying
at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, New Jersey Medical School. In his four years there, he gravitated towards trauma and trauma surgery, participating in research for the Trauma department, and spending ride time with the paramedics of Newark, New Jersey. Emergency Medicine seemed like a natural fit for Dr. Hansen, so he pursued this as a career choice, and performed his residency at
the University of Massachusetts Medical School, in Worcester. Since graduating from that program, Dr. Hansen has worked as a practicing emergency physician in Central Massachusetts for the past 15 years and is also the Medical Director for the Fire Department in Auburn, Massachusetts.
