Kimberly M. Harmon
Age: 38
Title: President & CEO/Founder
Company: Harmon Home Health
Company location: Worcester
Residence: Auburn

Career highlights:
As president & CEO at Harmon Home Health, I am responsible for the implementation of the strategic goals and objectives of the organization. I provide leadership to ensure the achievement of the agency’s philosophy and mission. Harmon Home Health was founded in 2006 to provide the community with quality private home care services. I am also the CEO of Harmon Enterprise LLC — a motivational speaking and consulting company which I founded in early spring of this year.

Community involvement:
I serve on the board of directors for Pernet Family Health and the Auburn Chamber of Commerce. I am currently serving on a committee of volunteers in Auburn to raise funds for a much needed literacy/library renovation project for one of the elementary schools. I also teach second and third grade religious education at my parish.

Biggest professional success:
My greatest success is the formation of Harmon Home Health, my dream. I recognized the need to bring compassion, integrity and trust into this market. I overcame many obstacles including starting the business as a single mother of two. I consider revenues of $1.4 million a huge success for a 2-year-old business that started from scratch.

Businessperson you admire most:
The business person I most admire is Oprah. She has leveraged her power to reach the underserved and underprivileged all over the world. She inspires, motivates and is a true humanitarian. I can only hope that someday I will have the ability to utilize my skills to impact a magnitude of people.

If you weren’t doing the job you’re doing now, what would you do?
If I wasn’t the CEO for Harmon, I would be finding ways to re-create myself. I love being an entrepreneur and have been finding ways to have more fun creating possibilities.

Favorite movie:
I have two: “The Sound of Music” and “Dead Poet’s Society.”

If you were stuck on a desert island, what book would you want to have with you?
“Boom! Voices of the Sixties…Personal Reflections on the ‘60s and Today” by Tom Brokaw. The combination of oral history coupled with the Author’s memories touches nearly all major events of that tumultuous decade.
